Biography: Istvan Janos Toth is senior research fellow at the Institute of Economics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest. He graduated at Corvinus (former Karl Marx) University of Budapest in 1984, studied at École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris and obtained his PhD at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1998. He holds a master’s degree in economics and sociology. He is the managing director of the Institute for Economic and Enterprise Research (IEER), co-founder and director of Corruption Research Center Budapest (CRCB). His main research interests are the problems of corruption and economic institutions, hidden economy and tax evasion.
